Homemade Caramel Sauce
I have to admit I used to think, that to make a good caramel sauce you will need a lot of time. I attempted making candy few times, and I realize, it’s not my strength. But when I came across this recipe, and I read you need 10 minutes to make the best caramel sauce you have ever had, I was intrigued.
I gave it a shot and let me tell you, it was so worth it.
This rich and creamy caramel sauce is just divine.
You will need only a few ingredients to have your homemade caramel sauce.
Ingredients :
1 cup (200 g) sugar
1/4 cup (56 g) unsalted butter, cubed and at room temperature
1/2 cup (120g) heavy cream, at room temperature
1/2 tsp (2g) vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
Cook sugar in a heavy pot over medium heat, stirring constantly with a heat - resistant spatula. Continue cooking until sugar melts into a light amber colored liquid, about 5 minutes.
Once the sugar is melted, carefully add butter a few pieces at a time, whisking constantly until incorporated. The mixture will boil rapidly at this point, so be very careful.
Slowly drizzle in heavy cream while whisking constantly. The mixture will bubble up rapidly . Let mixture boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat and pour into a glass bowl. Stir in vanilla and salt. Let Carmel sauce cool slightly before using - sauce thickens as it cools.
Note* Store leftover caramel sauce covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Reheat it before using.
Don’t double or triple this recipe, instead make a few batches if you need additional sauce.
